Doplňující popis: | INT.CODE: RDS00812 The Yamaha R7 falls into the category of the infamous homologation special: a motorcycle produced and placed on the market in a limited number of pieces with the sole objective for the manufacturer to obtain homologation in order to be admitted to a specific championship. For the Superbike world championship, the minimum number was then 500 units, and just 500 R7s were produced. In fact, it was not a production motorcycle approved for racing, it was rather a racing motorcycle approved for the road - The engine was a 750 cc DOHC (double over head camshaft) 4-cylinder with 20 valves (5 per cylinder obviously) in titanium, same material used for the connecting rods, bore and stroke of 72 and 46 respectively mm and pistons printed with a 'flower' design precisely because of the 5 valves. the R7 featured four throttle covers with a battery of 8 injectors. At the chassis level, the R7 was based on a black-painted Deltabox ll aluminum perimeter frame like on the GP YZRs combined with an extremely refined suspension compartment with a 43 mm inverted fork and Öhlins single shock absorber, both fully adjustable (preload, compression damping and extension the R7 was used by the official Yamaha team for only two seasons, 1999 and 2000. The leading rider was, as anticipated, Noriyuki Haga, who had been a Yamaha member of the SBK world championship since 1998. Nitronori had shown that he knew how to deal with production derivatives, obtaining great results in the races he ran as a wild card on the Sugo circuit in Japan . Already in '97 he had finished 2nd in race 1 and 1st in race 2, while in '98 he had brought home five victories in the heats and various other podiums. his teammate was Vittoriano Guareschi. The best result in that '99 was indeed a victory in the heats, followed by another podium finish. At the end of the championship Haga was 7th with 196 points while Guareschi was 10th with 99 points and a third place. - At the end of 2000 the sporting career of the R7 ended, at least officially. The OW-02 continued to be sold and used by some private teams until 2002.
